LASU commissions plagiarism checker for staff and postgradate students
Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi I. OlatunjI-Bello, MNI, who has supported the plagiarism checker project, has directed the commissioning and immediate use of the Lagos State University plagiarism detector named Getitright in order to ensure that the research output from the university is novel as expected. Internally and externally, the web-based software has been subjected to a number of layers of testing, penetration, and validation. Getitright includes the following modules, amongst others:

✓PDF Converter, and
✓Text Reader.
Each document passage has been designed to be matched against billions of online document sources from leading libraries and repositories both globally and locally. The solution can scan documents in a variety of formats, including DOCX, DOC, PDF, and TXT.
If desired, users of the program may copy and paste to speed up the procedure.
The application’s feature is its report presentation, which comes in two basic formats: comparable material and unique content. The amount of similarity assessed by the program is used to produce a score. For immediate notice, information that is similar is marked in yellow. The unique material is shown in the non-highlighted text.
Users may examine and follow the related material hyperlink given in the exclusive report using the system. The tool not only scans for similarities in English-based content, but also in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Yoruba, and Arabic, among other languages.
